ABOUT THE BIG HEX - THE BIG HEX CHALLENGE

“Big Hex" – a large hexcentric or nut used as protection when jammed into a crack in a rockface”.

Big Hex is a mountain challenge with a difference!

We challenge you to climb and descend 3 of Scotland’s most outstanding mountain ranges, via the most exciting ridges and buttresses, all within a 36, 48 or 72 hour timeframe.

And in doing so, raise cash for the Scottish Mountain Rescue Teams who we can rely on to help us when we need them!

In brief, Big Hex is a challenge for any scrambler or climber interested in taking in 3 classic Scottish Mountain Ranges over a couple of days – or quicker if you think you can!

The routes take in Pinnacle Ridge on The Skye Cuillin, West Ridge (Sgurr Nan Gillean), North East Buttress and Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis and North Buttress and Curved Ridge on Buachaille Etive Mor in Glen Coe.
